Nice and Nasty
Aug. 28th, 2004 04:37 pmNICE: Serving a Thai woman on issues desk, saying "You're Thai, aren't you? I speak Thai a little bit because I went there on holiday last year" (only forgetting how to say "last year" in Thai, and having to resort to English) and watching her face crack into a broad grin and tell me how impressed she was that I could speak so much of her language. Heh. If I could have actually had a conversation with her, her head would have probably exploded.
NASTY: Getting a bitchy email from some senior librarian who didn't approve of me putting anti-Destiny Church fliers around all of the library staff by email, and taking me to task for not respecting the feelings of those who value the "sanctity of marriage".
NICE: The fact that three different colleagues of mine have written back to this guy telling him to get the hell lost. It's nice that I'm able to follow Rule One of International Socialist politics - be politically active in your workforce - and watch it *work*. Next step - leading all the library assistants around here to overthrow capitalism. :)
