I don't know if the keyboard really does get in the way of your posing... Perhaps you could come onstage sometime wearing nothing but a couple of strategically placed synths. Oh excuse me, it's a dodgy time of night... 8) see look, I'm really concentrating on the pics. Even got my specs on. Oh and thanks for last night (don't panic Jess, we behaved like good little girls) I needed the hugs. xxx
Shit, what are you doing, trying to ruin my reputation by insinuating that I have ever acted like a good little girl?!? :)
I've often speculated about the synths getting in the way of my posing - see previous LJ posts - but then I figured if Martin Gore can pull it off, so can I. Right, Cal?
Even if you're no oil painting (as is my case) stacked keyboards get between you and the band and the audience.
If I remember correctly, yours are both 56 key boards. Unless you use every note of both boards on every track of every performance, you can take an 88 key MIDI master keyboard and programme splits so that you stand in front of one keyboard, controlling all your synths.
Most keyboards have a "programme change" jack so you can tread on a "programme change" pedal and swap the keyboard mappings - this avoids the need to cross hands.
88 key velocity- and attack- sensitive MIDI keyboards have always been popular and are really cheap second hand. I have a Cheetah MK7VA (which stands for Master Keyboard 7-octave Velocity- and Attack- sensitive) and I doubt it's worth more than £ 50 if I e-bayed it.
102 key boards, which effectively allow you to lay the boards down side by side, are IMHO a waste of time. All you have gained is not having a mod and pitch wheel in front of you (compared with having a 56 key to either side) and they are expensive.
Heh. Allow me to take a moment to express to the world the smugness I feel that the above utter hotness belongs to me. Well, techinically it belongs to Laputain, but I feel very possessive.

(And I hope you don't mind, but I'm drooling over the clouds as well. We don't get nearly enough rain here.)
