Warner Bros made the actors in Watchmen sign a contract requiring them to come back for a sequel.

Great Silhouette's Ghost, I'm relieved that Snyder seems to have a good attitude on this, because this is exactly the kind of shenanigans which have led to Alan Moore's justified fear and hatred of Hollywood. A sequel to Watchmen? If such a thing were possible, what would it ever look like? A romantic comedy about "Sam and Sandra Hollis" settling down to raise superbrats while Veidt gets elected president of Earth?

I do not see the point of a sequel. It isn't like your average super-hero comic with decades of weeklies and a dozen different canons...

Part of what made the book poignant is the destruction/hopeful future aspect of it. If he isn't actually saving the world what is the point of them "Failing to stop [him] from saving the world" - if in fact he has not saved it. For there to be a sequel the world would need to not be saved.

Though I heard they changed the ending anyway... So maybe it will make sense with the film version of events... still odd.
