It's really difficult to comment on these pictures. Since the Chancellor is practically the most visible highest representative of the Federal Republic (legally, s/he's just the boss of the cabinet, in constitutional ranks far below the President, the President of the Bundesrat and the President of the Bundestag), it looks like the German goverment is in the stranglehold of the US Government, which may be the truth.
Following a common German angst Mrs Merkel has to smile in the end since she has to prove that she understands and tolerates "practical humour". I wish that instead she had slapped "Dubya" for this absurd prank.
Also from the satyrical side of the show... figure all the high-ups getting into fist-fighting and slapping each other.
