I hope all readers of this journal are keeping tabs on the ongoing mass strike / pro-democracy rebellion in Tonga. It's still the epoch of wars and revolutions - even in the South Pacific - and the organised workers are on the frontlines. It's anyone's guess as to whether the Tongan people can seize power from the corrupt feudal aristocracy - and, if they did, how long the local imperialists (i.e. the NZ government) would let them keep it. But either way, it's history in the making.

===

Where were you reprobates last night, anyway? It was a great gig, and it would have been better if more than six people had shown. :/

Sorry luv, still recovering from the cold I had on Friday, didn't feel up to a trip all the way into town. One of the nuisances of living in Upper Hutt.

It's surprising the Tongan monarchy have lasted this long.

Last night this reprobate was in a time zone far far away. But thinking of you! I'm glad it went well despite the turnout.

New Zealand Imperialism. It sounds like something out of a Saturday Night Live news update.

Just bizarre enough to be true.

Do a google search on New Zealand's history of repressive colonial rule in Samoa. I'm sure you'll be amazed.
