Aug. 2nd, 2005 12:02 pmMy first ever academic lecture (ENGL331: "More than a little pro-Bolshie, the politics of Robin Hyde") went off well - but only thanks to beloved
jessikast. When we discovered that I couldn't access the power point projection from the lecture theatre computer, my sweetheart ran back to my office with a USB key to make it happen. And I think it was a reasonably good performance, except that I'm sure there were five minutes in the middle that were pure ramble. Never mind.
In other news, Salient found some space among the slanderous nonsense about the staff strike to print a certain reader of this LJ's review of the Bluenote gig. It carries on the fine tradition of Salient reviews of my stuff by being "WTF?" to a large extent. It'll be up on the website soon, pending author's permission.
My favourite part: "
laputain seems to be riding the wave of a cult of personality... fascinating, if a little petrifying... I also suspect devotees are anticipating the day she abandons all formality and just does bitter, manic, 1980's performance poetry." Er, quite.
