vostoklakeI'm going grey. Just here and there at the moment, perhaps 1 hair out of 50 or 75. You can't generally see because I've dyed my hair continuously for the past, er, 12 years I think, except when it's been a long time between applications.
My old way of operating was to beat myself up for being old and having not changed the world yet, reminding myself that Kate Bush had done all her best work already by my age, that no-one would be interested in a battered old hag who spent the first 25 years of her life in a paper bag and since then hasn't exactly done an efficient job of intersecting with the real world. But I think perhaps a better way is thinking of these grey hairs as marks of achievement.
Congratulations! You survived shit that would have killed most people, like having to completely reboot your personality. You've accumulated some wisdom, some knowledge and some stability in your own personality. Now that you've finally grown out of second adolesence, perhaps it's now time to get out there and change the world somewhat. You'll never be one of the cool kids, but just maybe you'll be the one who gives them some good ideas about how to get things done.
