Now, you see, I am no fan of Bill English - quite the opposite - and normally I would rejoice at any media pwnage of him. But this, I'm afraid, is bullshit.
Basically, his son has been caught calling people "emo fags" (etc) on Bebo. This is of course an act of dickishness and his father should give him a vigorous beating, except that Sue Bradford just made it illegal.
But what gets me is that gaynz.com are calling this "extreme homophobia". Er, no. It's teenage boys using "fag" as an insult. If you will read the insults are not directed at actual gay people, but at emo kids. (Must resist urge to say that he has a point.) I mean, "Anybody who's emo is a faggot, especially if they have a uterus"? That's not homophobia, that's 4chanspeak, otherwise known as "trolling".
Of course it sucks that "fag" is a general all purpose insult, and we should fight it, but Jesus wept, the wicketkeeper on my cricket team used to keep calling things she didn't like "gay", but she wasn't "extremely homophobic", she had just picked up a bad habit which being on a team with a queer person disabused her of quite quickly.
I declare this a total beat-up based entirely on the fact that the "gay community leaders" in this country are overwhelmingly bought and paid for by the Labour Party.
