Rest in peace, Robert Anton Wilson. If I hadn't read the Illuminatus! trilogy at age 17, my life would have been significantly less insane. While I grew increasingly dissatisfied with many of the philosophical or political positions he promoted, they certainly shook me out of normal thought - which, I suppose, was the whole point.
